Are you ready to lead a charity that opens young people’s eyes to the natural world?

At Goodwood, we’re proud of our heritage, and just as proud of the future we help shape. The Goodwood Education Trust is an independent charity on the Goodwood Estate, bringing children and young people, particularly the vulnerable and underserved, face to face with farming, nature and the environment. As Education Trust Manager, you’ll be the driving force behind the Trust, making sure it runs brilliantly today and grows stronger for tomorrow.

This is more than a management role. It’s a chance to lead a passionate team, champion a cause that matters, and make a lasting difference to the young people who visit us.

What You’ll Be Doing

Working closely with the Trustees, you will:

  • Lead and inspire a team of around 10, fostering collaboration and ongoing personal development
  • Provide visible, hands-on leadership while keeping a clear strategic view
  • Manage the budget, financial planning and reporting to keep the Trust on a strong footing
  • Research funding opportunities, write compelling bids and grow external income
  • Make sure the Trust meets all legal, regulatory, Charity Commission and safeguarding requirements
  • Give Trustees the information, assurance and advice they need for effective governance
  • Be the public face of the charity, building relationships with funders, schools, partners and the local community
  • Develop a sustainable strategy for growth that keeps the Trust responsive to local need
  • Champion equality, diversity and inclusion in everything we do

This is an on-site role based on the Goodwood Estate near Chichester, West Sussex. We’re open to flexible working hours to suit the right candidate.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Senior leadership experience in the charitable, education or outdoor learning sector
  • Experience working with Boards or Trustees and supporting good governance
  • A track record of researching and writing successful funding bids
  • Experience of budget management, financial planning and risk management
  • Experience managing a small team, making people feel supported and valued
  • Strong partnership-building, networking and influencing skills
  • Excellent communication skills, written and spoken, for a range of audiences
  • A solid understanding of legal, regulatory and safeguarding compliance
  • An enthusiasm for farming and the environment, or a real willingness to learn
  • A full driving licence and your own reliable transport, given our rural location
  • Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check

Why Join Us?

At Goodwood, you’ll be part of a place where passion, pride and a sheer love of life run through everything we do. And yes, we value a sense of fun too.

We offer:

  • Competitive salary and benefits
  • Flexible working hours
  • A truly unique setting on one of England’s most celebrated estates
  • The chance to lead a meaningful charity with real impact on young lives
  • Links across the wider Estate, its teams and the local community

If you’re a proactive, decisive leader with a passion for the environment and for giving young people new opportunities, we’d love to hear from you.
