Our Quarry Cafe at the Aldingbourne Country Centre, in the heart of the beautiful South Downs countryside just outside Chichester, is a great place to eat and drink, with a difference.
Adults with learning disabilities and / or autism are actively involved in creating and serving freshly prepared food made from the best local ingredients and we're looking for someone to join our catering team, working alongside them, sharing their expertise and skills.
We are looking for an engaging and dynamic individual with a passion for catering and providing quality hospitality services to our visitors and clients, both corporate and supported. You will take pride in delivering locally sourced and expertly created dishes, sharing our passion for high quality food and having the ability to make a difference to our customers’ and clients day, every day.
Working in modern facilities, duties include:
Respond to the challenges of a dynamic and energetic kitchen environment, whilst maintaining the highest of standards.
Work flexibly between both front of house and kitchen, as required.
To lead by example, offering excellent levels of service and professionalism at all times, serving and assisting customers in an engaging, polite and warm manner.
Handle compliments and complaints, requests and enquiries on food, beverage and service correctly and courteously.
Help the team develop their culinary and customer service skills by sharing your experience and knowledge.
Support people with learning disabilities to gain skills developing their independence and leading towards employment.
To adhere to all Hygiene, Food Safety, Health & Safety policies to safeguard the health and safety of customers and clients.
To operate the tills confidently and account for daily takings.
The ideal candidate will have:
Relevant experience in a Catering Environment
Food Hygiene Qualification and be familiar with food safety standards
The desire and drive to make a difference
Good communication and listening skills
Demonstrate the ability to provide excellent customer care
Good team working skills
Ability to maintain a safe working environment
A commitment to the principles of people with learning disabilities having human rights, dignity, respect, equality, and an emphasis on positive outcomes for people.
Experience of supporting people who have a learning disability
Usual working hours of 8.30am - 4.30pm. Working 3 days out of 7 (dependent on rotas), including some evenings, weekends and public holidays.
Own transport is essential due to the locations of the site.
