Institute of Education, Social and Life Sciences

Are you a successful primary school teacher who would like to make a difference to the next generation of primary teachers? The Institute of Education, Social and Life Sciences provides high quality education and professional development and we currently have a vacancy for a part-time Lecturer in Education to join our successful team. This post will begin in January 2022 or sooner if possible.

Working on both undergraduate and postgraduate education programmes, you will make a key contribution to the teaching of primary professional studies, global citizenship and/or social justice education. You will contribute to our initial teacher education Professional Studies modules and engage students in critical debates and discussion about teaching. As well as a detailed all-around knowledge of teaching (e.g. pedagogy, behaviour management, planning, assessment, etc.), for this role we are seeking applicants with a very strong understanding of diversity, race equality and inclusion.

There may also be opportunities to contribute to the delivery of other curriculum areas where appropriate. All members of the primary tutor team contribute collegiately to teaching, research and other development activities.

You must hold Qualified Teacher Status and have a successful track record of teaching in the primary sector. You will be educated to at least degree level and ideally with professional qualifications at Masters level. The ability to enthuse and motivate students is essential, as is a broad understanding of current initiatives underpinning Primary Education.

Shortlisted candidates will be expected to give a 10 minute presentation on the following:

"Why and how should student teachers be supported to teach for social justice."

Informal enquiries are welcomed by Dr Glenn Stone, BA Primary Teaching Programme Co-ordinator on 01243 812084 or email G.Stone@chi.ac.uk.

This position will require a Disclosure and Barring Check (DBS) which will be undertaken by the University on appointment.

The University of Chichester embraces all forms of diversity and aspires to be a fully inclusive and representative employer and so we encourage applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic people.
