Salary:  £23,541 full-time equivalent (£18,541 pro rata)

Hours: 29 hours per week, working flexibly to suit the needs of the service (willing to discuss flexible hours and job share)

Stonepillow, in partnership with Arun District Council and Turning Tides, have been awarded funding by MHCLG (Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government) to provide vital support for those rough sleeping in the district of Arun. This support will provide a provision to those who are homeless, giving them somewhere warm and safe to sleep over the coldest months and into spring/summer season.

The Winter Bed Support Worker will lead on ensuring the all the rough sleepers who have been temporarily housed due to Covid and under the winter bed provision, have move on plans and the opportunity to move into a placement of safety and wellbeing. The role will consist of assessing, supporting and caring for individuals’ needs and getting them a secure housing future. The Winter Bed Support Worker will work closely with the Arun Rough Sleeper Initiative Team and the Stonepillow Community Outreach team.

This role is perfect for someone new to the sector who would like to start their rewarding career within the homelessness / social care sector or someone who would like to further their working / voluntary career within a community outreach setting.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate appropriate understanding of the causes of homelessness and the triggers and causes of mental ill health and substance misuse issues. Full training and induction will be offered, and you will be working within a dynamic and passionate team who will support you in this role.

It is essential that you have a non-judgmental and enabling approach to supporting single homeless and vulnerable adults, and have understanding and awareness of health, housing and work issues facing clients who are homeless.
