Mental Health and Wellbeing Advisor - Part Time

The Mental Health and Wellbeing Adviser will be required to work across the full spectrum of mental health difficulties; ensuring students obtain appropriate treatment, support & adjustments to enable them to successfully complete their studies. With significant experience of managing complex caseloads the successful applicant will adopt a student-centred approach, acting as the primary professional point of contact and work with students to provide appropriate interventions, including, but not limited to, individual and group therapy sessions.
The post is 25.75 hours per week on average. Hours per week could be higher during semester time, with fewer hours worked outside of semester-time periods.
The successful applicant will offer a standardised mental health assessment to all people referred to the service, making recommendations for further support if required. They will also take a proactive approach to developing and reviewing the service, ensuring that resources and interventions are available in a variety of forms and are regularly evaluated for their effectiveness.
The post holder will be approved and registered in their field, and have excellent interpersonal skills. They must demonstrate a good understanding of diversity and inclusion issues relating to mental health, acting in an advisory and support capacity to staff across the University. Evidence of continuous professional development and clinical supervision to professional body requirements and the ability to establish relationships with people from both clinical and non-clinical backgrounds are essential.
