The objective of the Catering Department is to provide a meal service 7 days a week during term time and during Lettings and to create an environment in which the Department has a reputation for providing a first class service with a friendly smile.

The Pastry Chef is responsible to the Head Chef and Duty Chef and should -

  1. Present a professional image and maintain the highest of standards at all times.
  2. Be flexible in approach to the job and situation of site.
  3. Comply with any reasonable request made by either the Head Chef or Duty Chef.
  4. Maintain good relationships with all members of staff, children and visitors.

The following duties as required by either the Head Chef or Duty Chef including, but not limited to

  1. Daily preparation of a wide variety of cakes and biscuits for teas and deserts for mealtimes
  2. Preparation of cakes and deserts for functions
  3. Helping with other food preparation as necessary
  4. Assisting with the delivery, checking-in and management of provisions and stores.
  5. May be required to help out on the counter at meal times and during break and little teas as needed and having a flexible approach to those needs.
  6. Refilling the counter as necessary during meal times.
  7. Assisting with the setting-up, serving and clearing-up of meals for functions.
  8. Clearing and cleaning down the counter and floors at the end of meal
  9. Keeping working areas clean, tidy and hygienic at all times, and assisting with the cleaning of kitchen areas and equipment as necessary.

Normal hours are 7:00 am to 3.30 pm Monday to Friday term time only (39 weeks).
