Group Accountant

Salary £40,000-50,000 + benefits (salary flexible)

Qualified accountant required to join a medium sized finance team in an autonomous, senior role which will report to the organisation's Head of Finance. The main purpose of this newly created role will be to consolidate the increasing number of entities within the business due to organic growth and acquisitions. They will support the finance function and prepare statutory accounts for each entity and the group accounts.

Overview of duties:

• Incorporate all businesses within the group reporting structure for monthly profit and loss account, balance sheet and cashflow reporting.
• Weekly cash flow forecasting for review by senior management and bank to support covenants.
• Work with both internal and external parties to streamline group reporting.
• Some supervision of staff with responsibility for petty cash, bank reconciliations.
• Liaise with the bank to ensure the debt facilities are efficiently utilised.
• Work to ensure FX exposure is hedged where possible whilst ensuring we have adequate cash of required currencies to facilitate business activities.
• Work to delivering the statutory accounts to a strict timetable.
• Calculate and file monthly VAT return, oversee monthly Intrastat and EC sales returns for UK, work with overseas staff to ensure all local tax filing is accurate and timely filed.
• Ensure bank mandates are maintained.
• Liaise with external auditors providing year end additional audit schedules as required and develop the statutory accounts.
• Review processes and propose improvements as necessary to ensure adequate controls are in place in all areas of monthly reporting.
• Work with IT department to implement a new system to report smaller businesses and migrate current transactions and balances.
• Deputise for Head of Finance as necessary.
• Adhoc tasks as necessary.

Candidate requirements:

• Qualified accountant.
• Relevant experience (both industry and public practice backgrounds will be considered).
• Proven experience of consolidating entities reporting from different systems.
• Motivated individual with proven experience of delivering results and hitting deadlines.
• Excellent systems experience including Excel and ERP type system experience.
