Job Purpose:

The purpose of this role is to provide domestic cleaning and domestic house management for the Prep School. Duties to include, but not limited to, domestic cleaning, ordering household supplies and identifying areas requiring attention for maintenance; Line manager responsibility for the boarding house cleaner and part time cleaner; Day to day management of external cleaning contractors. Flexibility and pride in the presentation of the School is key.


Key areas of responsibility.

• To perform all domestic cleaning duties in the Main School Building, Music School, Art room and Swimming Pool changing rooms
- To empty bins daily in classrooms and offices
- To hoover carpets in classrooms, offices and corridors daily
- To wipe down desks daily in classrooms
- To wet mop floors as necessary
- To remove cobwebs
- To clean all glass doors and panels
- To dust down and polish wooden panels
- To clean window sills
- To clean all toilets and sinks, replenish toilet rolls and soap dispensers
- To sweep the cellar steps and ensure the cellar area is kept tidy
- To clean the benching in the swimming pool changing room areas
- To light the fires in the main building as may be necessary
• To co-ordinate with the Contract cleaners regarding their requirement for cleaning chemicals and any matters arising. To ensure their standards are upheld and liaise with times for cleaning for school special occasions
• To accompany external household contractors when on site
• To manage the cleaning products stock levels and place orders in accordance with School procedures
• To check that areas are maintained to a good standard and report damage as appropriate.
• To liaise with the maintenance department on house maintenance – breakages, malfunctions, replacement keys to ensure any issues are promptly followed up.
• To perform any reasonable request by the Bursar.

Hours of work

• A total of 30 hours work per week during term time

Suggested Hours of work which may be amended by agreement (normal school hours 8am-6pm):

? Monday 7am to 1pm
? Tuesday 7am to 1pm
? Wednesday 7am to 1pm
? Thursday 7am to 1pm
? Friday 7am to 1pm

• A total of 20 hours per week during school holidays (hours to be agreed)
• Overtime hours to be worked as authorised
• Four weeks paid holiday to be taken during school holidays



Remuneration: £8.31 per hour, paid in arrears on a monthly basis, directly into your bank account. Salaries are reviewed each year and any increase will be paid from 1st September.
