Our staff support unpaid carers who may be family, friends, parents or partners looking after someone with an additional need, frailty, illness, disability, drug or alcohol problem. With around 84,000 carers in West Sussex and over 15,000 on our register, we now need more staff with passion for working with and on behalf of local carers. Our services are shaped by the views of carers themselves. This role provides cover on average for 1-3, four-hour shifts per week on our single point of contact telephone response line. You will provide an ad hoc cover for the response line by delivering a consistent countywide telephone contact point for carers using active listening, information, support and signposting relevant to each carer’s circumstances. Essential qualities include an understanding and empathy for the issues carers face together with strong listening and communication skills. Must be confident in using IT based systems including call handling, Microsoft Office and databases. We will provide full training, shadowing and mentoring support.
