West Sussex County Council is developing its role as a strategic commissioner, and is working closely with the three West Sussex Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) to further develop existing successful Joint Commissioning relationships across health and social care.

The role will be pivotal in providing assurance that services contracted by the Council and NHS in West Sussex are safe, effective and delivering value for money. The post-holder will be assigned to focus on contracting high value mental health, learning disability and substance misuse services providing leadership and expertise in the management of contracts and market development. You will also lead performance management of contracts ensuring that monitoring processes are in place and followed and that performance issues are identified and addressed effectively using the levers available within contracts.

You will have specialist expertise and knowledge around health and social care contracting. You will also be dynamic, innovative and demonstrate the ability to combine a rigorous approach to performance management with the ability to take a strategic overview of contracting and how this relates to the wider commissioning of health and social care services.
