IT Support & AI Lead

About the role
We are looking for a practical, service-focused IT Support & AI Lead to support colleagues with day-to-day IT needs, improve digital confidence across the business and champion the responsible use of AI. This is a varied role combining hands-on user support, technology administration, digital skills development and continuous improvement.
Working closely with the IT & Development Manager, you will help colleagues access the equipment, systems and technical support they need to work effectively. You will also support onboarding and offboarding, manage IT equipment records, liaise with external technology providers and help shape safe, effective AI adoption across Target.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the internal contact for all IT-related support requirements.
- Assist the IT & Development Manager by preparing information and updates for outsourced IT providers.
- Log, track and escalate technical issues, ensuring they are resolved promptly.
- Provide information on service levels and performance of external technology suppliers.
- Act as the internal point of contact for MYPID app-related issues, coordinating queries, updates and escalations as required.
- Support users with hardware, software, system access and connectivity issues.
- Maintain the IT asset register and equipment inventory, including a clear record of all laptops, Monitors and other equipment issued to team members working from home.
- Maintain IT processes, procedures and system documentation to ensure information is accurate, accessible and audit-ready.
- Assist with procurement of IT equipment, software licences and peripherals.
Employee Onboarding & Offboarding
- Set up equipment, accounts, permissions and access for new starters.
- Coordinate with line managers and outsourced IT providers to ensure a smooth onboarding experience.
- Manage system access changes for internal role moves.
- Ensure secure removal of access, equipment recovery and account closure for leavers.
- Maintain onboarding and offboarding checklists and procedures.
AI Champion & Digital Skills Adoption
- Act as the organisation's AI Champion.
- Promote responsible, effective and safe use of AI tools across the business.
- Support the development and maintenance of an internal AI governance framework, including approved tools, acceptable use, data protection requirements and escalation routes.
- Promote controls to reduce unapproved or unmanaged AI use, including clear guidance on what information must not be entered into external AI tools.
- Prepare and update practical AI guidance notes, FAQs and prompts to help colleagues use AI safely, consistently and effectively.
- Monitor AI adoption, feedback and emerging risks, reporting themes and recommendations to the IT & Development Manager and Risk & Compliance Director.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity through automation and AI technologies.
- Deliver regular AI and digital skills training to improve confidence, consistency and responsible use of technology across the business, including Microsoft 365, SharePoint, collaboration tools, automation and other business systems or digital tools.
- Encourage innovation and digital transformation across all departments.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and user experience.
- Support business projects involving technology, automation and operational efficiency.
- Track IT issues, recurring themes and improvement opportunities, using insight from support activity to recommend practical changes.
- Support internal projects and change adoption where technology, systems or digital ways of working are involved.
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and recommend solutions.
- Contribute to technology-related policies, procedures and standards.
About You
You will be organised, approachable and confident explaining technical information to non-technical users. You will enjoy solving problems, supporting colleagues and helping people make better use of technology. A strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 is essential, alongside good attention to detail and an interest in AI, automation and emerging technologies.

- Experience with SharePoint.
- Knowledge of cyber security best practices.
- Experience delivering technology training to users.
- Experience providing first-line IT support.
- Experience coordinating with third-party IT providers.
