We are keen to appoint highly motivated individuals to work as professional cycle instructors and deliver Bikeability training courses to school age pupils and adults, either in groups or on a one to one basis, in line with the National Standards for Cycle Training. Primarily, West Sussex County Council offers cycle training (Bikeability Level 2) to pupils at all schools within the county at Years 6 and 7. The role sits within a team of trained instructors carrying out this training during the school day (term time only). Additional training with adults and other groups is also offered on an ad-hoc basis throughout the year, at a time convenient to the client. This will include Level 3 (advanced) training, beginners and refresher training. There may be a requirement to work evenings, weekends and during school holidays to cover this training. You will have excellent communication skills, be a competent and experienced cyclist and ideally be a fully qualified National Standard Instructor, although training can be provided for the right candidate. The role is a casual position and no hours of work can be guaranteed. Typically, school courses run over 5 consecutive days (Monday-Friday) and depending on the number of sessions, instructors can expect to work between 7.5 and 22.5 hours per week. Work is allocated to instructors by geographical location in order to keep travel time and mileage as low as possible.
