Since April 2013, the Government has changed the way it helps people in crisis situations. Emergency Crisis Loans and Community Care Grants are no longer available from Job Centre Plus. West Sussex County Council has introduced a new scheme to support local people called the Local Assistance Network.

Stonepillow administers the Local Area Assistance fund to local people who are going through crisis and qualify for Crisis funding. Any assistance offered will be on a discretionary basis following an assessment.

Job Purpose

To assess and deliver Local Welfare Assistance to the most vulnerable members in the Chichester and Arun districts following set objectives.
To provide best value for the social fund by targeting those clients/families within both districts who mostly need the service
To prevent homelessness by offering Welfare Assistance for unexpected emergencies.
To increase access to housing for vulnerable clients.
To prevent break up of a family unit through providing essentials to daily life.
To provide good quality furniture and fittings to people/family units whilst dissuading fraudulent claims by providing actual furniture.
To eliminate the need for cash grants by working closely with partners to use voucher and exchange methods
To improve overall wellbeing of vulnerable people.
