About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated Administrative Support Officer to join our Children Services Safeguarding Team based in Eastbourne.

The successful candidate would join our dedicated administration team supporting the Independent Reviewing service. Independent Reviewing Officers chair Child Protection Conferences and statutory reviews for Children Looked After by East Sussex Children’s Services.

This is a fast paced and varied administrative role. We are looking for someone with excellent MS Office skills and experience in working with computerised IT systems. High quality written and verbal communication skills are vital along with accuracy and attention to detail.

Duties and tasks include the day to day administration of calendar events, group mailboxes and the setting up of Conferences and Reviews. Experience in organising formal meetings or events and knowledge of working in Children Services Teams would be desirable.

There will be conflicting demands which will require you to be confident in your time and workload management; using your initiative and prioritising tasks to ensure deadlines are met. The ability to work collaboratively and flexibly as part of the team is a key component of the success of the team.

The role requires someone who can demonstrate tact and sensitivity in their practice. Due to the nature of the work an ability to deal with emotive and stressful situations is important.

Thanks to our talented workforce and experienced managers, we have created a strong, effective service and are rated as one of the top performing authorities in the South. As a result, we have won two Local Government Chronicle Awards for services to children and business transformation around the early help agenda.

This is a great time to come on board at East Sussex.

If you think you would fit the bill, please apply now.

Additional Information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.

From 6 April 2011 the Home Office has placed a permanent restriction on the number of migrant workers that all Tier 2 (General) Sponsors can recruit. Due to the restrictions we cannot guarantee that individuals that meet the requirements of the Points-based Immigration System will be issued with clearance to obtain work permits.

Equal Opportunities

East Sussex County Council is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from all suitable candidates, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age. All applications are treated on merit.
