An opportunity has arisen at St Mary's School in Horam to recruit a Teaching Assistant 1 to join their dynamic education team on a fixed term contract.  St Mary's School, part of the Sabden Multi Academy Trust is a specialist residential school for boys with Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties. 

The main responsibility of the post will be to support teachers in the delivery of the curriculum, both by directly working with pupils and assisting in preparation of resources. 

No formal qualifications are required however, applicants will be expected to demonstrate a sensitive and empathic approach to working with children who have Special Educational Needs. If successful you will become part of a very committed and hardworking team. While some experience of working with vulnerable young people is perferable it is not essential. We will provide you with high quality training and support.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System. From 6 April 2011 the Home Office has placed a permanent restriction on the number of migrant workers that all Tier 2 (General) Sponsors can recruit. Due to the restrictions we cannot guarantee that individuals that meet the requirements of the Points-based Immigration System will be issued with clearance to obtain work permits. All staff will be expected to hold or be willing to obtain an enhanced DBS check or Enhanced check for Regulated Activity with the Disclosure & Barring Services (previously the Criminal Records Bureau).
