About the Role

We are looking for inspirational teaching assistants to join our highly skilled team. Ideally you will have a track record of supporting and enhancing the education and wellbeing of children with additional needs, demonstrating skills which complement and enhance our existing teaching support skills base. We are particularly looking for TAs with a sound knowledge of supporting individuals and groups with communication and interaction needs. Knowledge of Speechlink would be highly desirable along with a speech and language qualification which may attract a TA3 salary to reflect experience and skills.

The roles we are recruiting for are intended to be flexible and applicants will need to be adaptable, able to show initiative and have the confidence to work independently or as part of a team.

This post is for 31.25hrs per week, but part-time and job share applicants will also be considered.

Pevensey and Westham CE School is a thriving two form entry primary school located in a historic, rural setting. Our recent OFSTED inspection identified that we are a 'Good' school providing a rich curriculum with a breadth of opportunities for the children in our care.

We welcome potential applicants to visit and experience our school first hand. For more details or to arrange a visit, contact the school office or by email.

Additional Information

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.

From 6 April 2011 the Home Office has placed a permanent restriction on the number of migrant workers that all Tier 2 (General) Sponsors can recruit. Due to the restrictions we cannot guarantee that individuals that meet the requirements of the Points-based Immigration System will be issued with clearance to obtain work permits. This authority is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All staff will be expected to hold or be willing to obtain Enhanced DBS check or Enhanced check for Regulated Activity with the Disclosure & Barring Services (previously the Criminal Records Bureau).

All school based staff have the responsibility for promoting the safeguarding and welfare of children. All school staff should be aware of the school’s Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy and work in accordance with this document at all times.
