Interview date: 7th August 2017

This position is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check (formerly Criminal Records Bureau check)
Through the Integrated Prevention and Earliest Help System, we will work with children, families, and young people to help ensure that every child, family and young person is supported to achieve his or her potential. The foundations for future mental health, emotional control, intelligence and parenting ability are all set in place in the early years and the home surroundings, family life and parenting are all important factors in determining positive outcomes for children in the future.

The YES service provides information, advice and guidance services and personal one to one support to young people aged 11-17 years old who have emotional health and wellbeing vulnerabilities.

As a key member of the Integrated and earliest help prevention service the YES Caseworker will act as a lead professional responsible for delivering an operational service to families and young people who access or need the services of the IP&EH team; and will develop and support the implementation of Signs of Safety to ensure appropriate threshold decisions, quality and planning on Early Help cases.

The YES Caseworker will act as a named specialist liaison worker to work intensively with young people in secure accommodation, inpatient mental health accommodation or youth detention centres and their families across West Sussex. This work will commence while the young person is detained/within inpatient unit and continue to work with them during their stay and their release/discharge back into the community.

The Caseworker will act as the single point of contact for the young person and services involved, offering “sticky support”. The worker will also act as mentor and advocate, first point of contact for the young person, be able to accompany them to appointments and ensure identified outcomes for each individual are achieved. They will also work intensively with the young person and their family or carers to support wider developmental needs eg education, training, housing, social care, health, general emotional wellbeing and social networks.

As the needs of the families and young people do not always fit into traditional working hours, in order to deliver the best outcomes for our families, it is expected that YES Caseworkers will at times have to work their contracted hours flexibly.

Interviews will be held at Littlehampton FIO Centre, 24 Marine Pl, Worthing BN11 3DN
