Please note that all care staff must be at least 21 years old. No person can work in a children’s home unless they are at least 3 years older than the oldest child accommodated.

We are currently recruiting to a Residential Night Child Care Worker role, based in one of our homes located in Worthing.

Cissbury Lodge provides care for children and young people who have a diagnosis of a Severe Learning Disability. Children and young people may also have a range of physical disabilities alongside this. Cissbury Lodge is able to support children and young people with a wide range of physical, behavioural, social, communication, personal care and health needs associated with severe learning disabilities (such as autism and global developmental delay) and physical disabilities.

The children and young people accessing services at Cissbury Lodge will be mixed sex, ages 7 – 18 years old; however children and young people outside that age range can be supported in exceptional circumstances. Children who have disabilities without a Severe and profound learning disability cannot be accommodated.

Requirements of the role:

  •  general awareness and sensory attention.
  •  remain awake throughout the hours of duty
  •  To build up a relationship with Children and Young People in order to provide a caring environment and maintain the child’s welfare.
  •  periodic requirements for lifting or carrying, pushing or pulling items of moderate weight.

The post holder is required to work on a rota basis and undertake weekend working as required.

Ideally applicants will:-

  • have experience in working with or dealing with children.  
  • have excellent people skills.
  • be able to develop and maintain good working relationships.
  • be able to demonstrate positive personal authority.
  • have great communication skills.

There is the opportunity for the successful candidate to undertake additional Qualifications (Level 3 Diploma CYPW) and further training. For the higher salary you will already have achieved this qualification.
