We are looking for an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and self-motivated individual who holds a National Diploma in Forestry or Arboriculture or equivalent level 3 qualifications in arboriculture / landscaping with experience of dealing with planning matters. A proven track record in lieu of qualifications may be considered.
The successful applicant will be based in the Cityparks office at Stanmer Park and will work throughout the City of Brighton and Hove. The City holds The National Elm Collection,the majority of the trees in the collection are on the councils land. It is essential to be able to travel to all areas of the City and desirable to have a vehicle available for site visits for which a mileage allowance would be paid.
There are two key part of the role. One is to provide tree and landscape advice to the Planning Team and to liaise with contractors, developers and other interested parties regarding such proposals. The other is process all applications and notifications for works to protected trees within Conservation Areas and those subject to TPO status.
As well as a good knowledge of arboriculture and planning issues that relate to arboriculture you need to have good communication skills [ you will be required to present information at Council committee meetings], good organisational skills and be computer literate.
