About the Role

The SABDEN Multi Academy Trust -VACANCY Single Status Grade 5 £16,875-17,891

St Mary's is a school for boys from years 6-11 with Social, Emotional And Mental Health needs (SEMH). All pupils attending the school have an Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP) or Statement of Educational Needs in place.

We are looking to appoint an Assistant Childcare Officer to work as part of a strong Care Team who enable our pupils to access the NEST which is our residential provision.  The successful candidate will have some experience of working with and positively engaging young people.  You will be aware of the needs of young people who may be disengaged with all aspects of school life and you will be confident about being a positive role model for them. 

This post is paid 37 hours over 52 weeks, however the working pattern is 43.25 hours over 39 weeks.

You will be enthusiastic, flexible and resilient in your working practice to ensure the best possible outcomes for our young people.

The successful candidate will be a team player and will value the importance of setting high standards for young people, whilst also being able to secure meaningful and professional relationships.

Pupils accessing the NEST engage in a wide range of activities aimed at encouraging healthy lifestyles and routines. We make great use of our local environment and amenities.

The care and well-being of our pupils is paramount and you will have a thorough understanding of Safeguarding and Childcare protocols.

There will be sleeping in duties (for which there is an additional allowance of approximately £1,500 p/a) on a rota basis.

St Mary's School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure, written references and other employment checks.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
