Based in Worthing

Interview date: 17/11/2016

This position is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check (formerly Criminal Records Bureau check)
There is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Social Work Practitioner to join the Worthing Community Team covering the Worthing area. The position is a full time permanent post.

Here at West Sussex County Council we have a clear vision for our county which sets out what we want to achieve with our residents. We want to ensure residents, families and communities have the right support in place to enable them to confidently prepare for later life.

We are investing in our Adults’ Social Care Services to support our priorities and in keeping with the new responsibilities under the Care Act which became effective in April 2015.

As a qualified Senior Social work Practitioner, registered with HCPC, you will need strong interpersonal and organisational skills. You will need to travel independently across the county to meet with individuals and carers to assess needs, formulate outcomes and undertake reviews using a person-centred approach designed to provide meaningful choice and promote wellbeing. You must be able to work autonomously and as part of a team, prioritise your work and respond flexibly to competing demands.

We particularly welcome applications from staff who have experience of supervising others as this is a necessary part of the role. Good working knowledge of safeguarding procedures will be required as this is a key role within the team.

The successful applicant will be expected to manage a small complex case load and have excellent time management and good IT skills. This a busy community team providing a duty service and the successful applicant will be responsible at times for overseeing this.

The successful applicant will have a good understanding of working within budgetary constraints whilst meeting our duties under the Care Act 2014.

Experience of chairing meetings is desirable as is Practice Educator Qualification or willingness to engage in this training. Applications from qualified Best Interest Assessors would be welcomed.

If you think you have the right skills and values for our organisation, you will be supported by a programme of continuous training and development including supervision and management support to help you fulfil the role. We also offer an attractive benefits package including a childcare voucher scheme, flexible working and Local Government Pension Scheme.

If you have any questions about this role, please contact Anna Kouridis (Team Manager)
