The Pines is a day service for adults with varying degrees of Disability including Learning Disabilities and Physical Disabilities.

You will supervise direct day to day the support workers within the unit and to support the senior team to ensure all processes are completed such as Risk Assessment, guidelines and evaluation of session plans are completed.

A full clean driving license is desirable as there will be a requirement to access the community using WSCC transport therefore a D1 is required to drive the vehicles, full training will be given. You will work with customers, parents and carers and other stakeholders in meeting the needs of each customer being supported within the unit.

The Pines provides assessed day care within a structured programme of activities within three areas of Specialism
• Complex/Focus Group
• Life Skills Group
• STAR Group (Striving Towards an Active Retirement)

The vacancy exists within the STAR Group
The aim of the STAR Group within the Pines Day Service is to support and provide for, individuals who require a quiet safe relaxed environment due to their ageing needs, though not specific to chronological age.
The service is not age specific, but a need led service, also offering activities to support individuals with behaviours often categorised within different forms of Dementia. Within the team we have a member of staff skilled within the Dementia Mapping Process so enabling individualised support plans for these individuals.
The needs within this service have increased due to individuals requirements in terms of physical/mental changes and so the service is continually changing to support these.

HOW AIMS AND OBJECTIVES ARE MET;
The STAR group aims to care for individuals completely and holistically, recognising their social and occupational needs, as well as their physical and emotional needs.
• Support people to be confident within their environment, and having involvement within the service.
• Enabling clients living with Dementia to be themselves.
• The dedicated and knowledgeable staff team will provide an Activity Programme supporting individual and group activities,
• Being sensitive to each individuals needs and ensuring that they have their own Person Centred program.
• Giving each person a sense of identity and meaning within the group, along with assuring them of continuity and their security. The STAR room offers a stimulating and relaxed environment, opening out onto the courtyard, catering for preferences whilst maintaining contact with the main centre and our local community.

Due to the complexity of the unit a visit is essential prior to applying for this role. There is a degree of fitness required due to the personal care needs of some of the individual but full training and support will be given.
