Assistant Production Manager– West Sussex – From £22000pa-£25000pa

Our client are leaders in producing precision sheet metal products, machined components and precision fabrications for sectors including Electronics, Medical, Computer, Telecommunications, Banking and White Goods.

They now require an Assistant Production Manager who has experience of working in a relevant position in the Engineering/Manufacturing environment drive the planning and production of fabrications from estimate to completion in a busy production environment.

The ideal candidate will drive the planning and production of fabrications from estimate to completion in a busy production environment. They will have extensive knowledge of sheet metal, fabrication, welding, brake press, punch press, CNC processes along with reading and producing accurate plans from drawings.

This role would suit an enthusiastic person who is able to communicate on all levels as you your be working day in day out with the General Manager, Production Manager and sheet metal workers.

Responsibilities;
• To oversee all production within the metalwork facility, ensuring immediate and short objectives relating to output, quality, waste minimisation and safe working practices.
• To recruit, develop and manage production Operators within the Metalwork Facility, making sure individuals and teams are clear about what is expected of them targets / schedules are met.
• Liaising with the General Manager and Production Manager to ensure they have an understanding of the work being carried out.
• Develop a continuous improvement ethos, ensuring a lean manufacturing approach in the work-place.
• To develop the material flow within the business and ensure all Production is completed on time and to the highest quality.
• Assisting with the Health and Safety and ISO aspects of the business.

Person Specification;
• Must have experience of working in a fabrication/metals based environment.
• Must have a working knowledge of fine tolerance sheet metal.
• Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings.
• Must have a knowledge sheet metal machinery.
• Must have strong leadership skills
