Operations/Manufacturing Manager – West Sussex - £60-70000pa plus benefits

Our West Sussex based client is a manufacturing business who are curerntly looking for an Operations/Supply Chain Manager to be responsible for the day to day manufacturing operations & facility management of their West Sussex based site. Responsibilities include managing employee health & safety, environmental compliance, employee development and performance management, quality of product and service, and all plant operations including facility maintenance, process equipment maintenance, efficient production management, facility budget, inventory and housekeeping.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Plan, organize and direct the manufacturing, quality, production engineering, planning, purchasing and maintenance operations which ensure the most effective return on assets.
• Assure attainment of business objectives and productions schedules while ensuring product standards that will exceed our customers' expectations.
• Implement manufacturing strategies and action plans to ensure that the facility supports strategic initiatives.
• Continually improve safety record by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes. Maintain and improve housekeeping in all areas.
• Become a change agent in initiating and improving processes and practices.
• Champion "Lean Manufacturing" by understanding, analyzing, and making the final decision on changes affecting the performance of Manufacturing.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree (or equivalent) in an Engineering or related discipline.
• Relevant experience in the Oil & Gas/Process Industry.
• Experienced in managing a manufacturing operation across all functional areas (manufacturing, purchasing, planning, quality, inventory control, etc.).
• Must have extensive experience in production planning and procurement in a manufacturing environment (preference for discrete manufacturing).
• Experience in exporting of finished product and importing of raw materials and components.
• Previous experience in an Engineer-to-order company a plus
• Strong knowledge, background and experience in lean manufacturing (Toyota Production System – TPS, VSM, JIT, etc.)
