About the Role

Stepping Stones Pre-School Portslade is located in purpose built premises at Peter Gladwin Primary School in North Portslade. As a small, community based Pre-School we aim to provide outstanding care and learning activities for children aged from 2 1/2 to 4 years from varied social, economic and language backgrounds and abilities. The Pre-School children enjoy free flow indoor/outdoor play in a secure environment, gardening and varied stimulating activities that draw on their interests. The Pre-School is "I CAN Early Talk" accredited, promotes healthy early years and has completed the Simple Quality Protects scheme.  If you would like to have a look at our setting beforehand, please contact us at the beginning of the autumn term to arrange a visit. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Pre-School Manager to lead and manage our Pre-School on conjunction with the committee. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of business development for our Pre-School. You will lead the team to provide a safe, nurturing, high quality teaching and learning environment for all children. You will ensure that our provision meets all the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and other relevant legislation. You will strive to ensure that the provision continues to work towards maintaining an Outstanding Ofsted judgement and continues to reflect and develop. Applicants will have considerable experience in the EYFS, have led and managed an EYFS provision and have a level 4/5 in management. You will have excellent skills in communication. You will have an in-depth knowledge around safeguarding and child protection. You will have a proven track record in organising all aspects of leading and managing an EYFS provision. You will have a comprehensive understanding how to support ‘groups’ of children and be confident in monitoring the learning and development of staff and children. You will have fully embedded EYFS practice and be able to model practice, provide motivation and ensure the staff team provide a consistent approach to observation, planning and assessments. You will be responsible for the day to day managing of our setting. You will be solely responsible for all aspects of maintaining sustainability, this includes promoting the setting in the community, registering new children and finding alternative sources of funding. You will work with the committee to maintain and develop a viable EYFS provision. You will be responsible for administrative tasks to ensure the smooth running of the provision and financial reporting. You will oversee the observation, assessment, planning and monitoring of all children in line with the learning and development requirements of the EYFS. You will deliver all aspects of the EYFS and the associated legislation. You will be ultimately responsible, in conjunction with the senior team, for the safeguarding and welfare of all children. You will keep up to date with national legislation and local guidance. You will work with the children, parents, staff team, committee and outside agencies to critically reflect and write and implement development plans for the provision. The successful candidate will be fully supported and have a comprehensive induction, We offer the opportunity to continue with your professional development. Hours - Mon-Fri 8:30am - 5:00pm for 41 weeks per year

Additional Information
